Chalk on the Walk 2009

Got Chalk? This was the big question as sparkly eyed artists in crisp clean clothing began to show up in the early morning light to kick off the 2009 Chalk on the Walk event held along the sidewalks of Downtown Tehachapi.

By the time 2pm rolled around, it was the sidewalks which sparkled with color and dazzled onlookers from far and wide. The artists wore streaks of chalk on their clothes and faces, proudly showing off their efforts, and the competition was tough! But creativity and commeraderie flowed through the air and brought a festive atmosphere to Tehachapi.

Over 90 artists participated this year, and there were plenty of arts and craft vendors,
tasty food booths and live music to keep everyone entertained for the entire day.

Awards for the event were handed out about 3:30 by Tehachapi Valley Arts Association volunteers and a special $500 Best of Show Prize was sponsored and awarded by Main Street Tehachapi.

Many Thanks to our Volunteer Judges (Who we'll leave anonymous in case they judge again next year!)
We appreciate your time and energy!

Thank you to the many businesses in Tehachapi who donated prizes and supported this great event.
